God Provides

Image
Image from http://www.priorityministries.com/christian-womens-blog/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2013/06/matt-6_8.jpg Matthew 6:8 "...your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him." We are not financially rich, but I cannot say that we are financially poor either. God is always faithful to provide us with our NEEDS. And sometimes, He gives us some of our WANTS. I used to wonder why God (more often) only provides us with our NEEDS (and not our WANTS). I mean, God could give us everything in this world. If He wants to give me a car right now, He can do it in a flash. But why doesn't He do that? I believe (and in my experience) that this is one of the ways in which He wants to bring us closer to Him, and to develop in us a dependence on Him. Most often, when we have "excess riches", we forget God. But when we have "just enough", we tend to cling tighter to Him, and we tend to be more thankful. Thank you Lor...

TRUST BUT VERIFY

Image
I saw this saying posted on my co-teacher's desk. At first, I was of the opinion that this saying is kind of "negative". I was thinking, "If you trust someone, why do you need to verify?" Funny thing is a few days after I noticed this saying, I was able to understand and apply it in my very own experiences. I cannot understand why people lie, and these very people who lie are the ones who require total honesty from you. I want to tell them to their faces, "You want me to be honest, but you yourself lied to me several times." What is worse is that some people believe that you can lie to your close friends and loved ones to "protect" them from getting hurt. A lie, which is from Satan, the FATHER OF ALL LIES", can NEVER protect anyone from anything. Satan's main purposes are only to "steal, kill, and destroy" (John 10:10). Where did people get the idea that a lie can protect anyone? It is the tr...

Thanksgiving Blog No. 2

Image
I started this Thanksgiving Blog almost a month ago, and here is my first post: http://koolkolourz.blogspot.com/2013/10/thanksgiving-blog-no-1.html The third thing (or person) that I want to thank God for is my brother Jason Mel.  We have been through a lot of experiences, and now, we are mature, sarcastic adults. LOL Jason and I at Baclaran.  I think this was in 1990.

Call Center Horror Stories : My Cousin's Experience

First off, this is not the horror story that you are thinking about.  HORROR here means the BAD EXPERIENCES one has while working in a call center. This is a re-blog of an old post in my old blog.  I sent this as a letter to  SunStar Bacolod.  I sent it as a letter to the editor and was published by SunStar Bacolod on November 29, 2007, Vol. XIII, No. 64, page 9.  I was still single when I wrote this piece. ____________________________________ Good day. I am one of the SunStar readers residing in Bacolod City.  I never pictured myself writing to a newspaper but necessity and urgency pushed me to do so. Last November 21, 2007, Wednesday, at around 3 in the morning, my cousin Gee, was held-up by two unidentified men in front of Jollibee La Salle while waiting for the company bus to pick her up for work.  To check the veracity of my story, you may inquire from the Villamonte Police Station where she (my cousin) made a blotter report that same morning....

Some Things Change; Some Things Don't

Image
While going over some old pictures, I noticed some very interesting ones. I realized that some things in my life have changed; some did not. The thing that did not change in my life is China. It's still one of my favorite countries. Don't get me wrong. I've never been there. In fact, I've never traveled outside the Philippines. It's just that my paternal grandfather always told me stories about how his ancestor is from China and that we have Chinese blood. He also told me about his grandmother who had bound feet (Lotus Feet). And so, I've always wanted to visit China and see everything for myself. Me as Miss China, March 23, 1985 The thing that did change is my “ambition”. I don't know if this is true for all Kindergarten (or Prep Schools), but where I came from, we have this yearly “When I grow up I want to be....” school program. When I was in Kinder, my line was “When I grow up I want to be a nurse”, which did not happen because me...

Thanksgiving Blog No. 1

Image
I promised myself last October 16, 2013 that every month I should blog about at least 10 things to be thankful for, and that I should not post similar entries. And so my “thanksgiving blog” starts today. Here's the proof of my “self-promise”: The first two things (or people) I am thankful for (and to) are my parents. I learned a lot from both of them. They are always there for me through thick and thin. And the most important thing I learned from them is God. They introduced me to God, to Jesus Christ, and to salvation. With Tatay (1982) With Nanay (March 15, 1981) And now that I am already a married adult, they still take care of me. Thank you Tatay and Nanay. :)

Mother Tongue-Based Multilingual Education Program

Once again, I am re-blogging a blog I made when I was still studying EDUC103.  Our professor asked us to give 3 arguments to promote Mother Tongue-Based Multilingual Education.  This blog was originally posted on July 26, 2013 at the UPOU internal blog.  __________________ Mother tongue-based multilingual education (MTB-MLE) refers to education or learning that begins in the mother tongue and transitions to additional languages, particularly Filipino (or Tagalog) and English (Capitol University, 2012). If I were to advocate for/promote the Mother tongue-based multilingual education program , I will use the following arguments: MTB-MLE improves learning outcomes. The learner can express himself/herself easily in his/her own language (L1), and is thus encouraged to participate in class discussions. The learner clearly understands what is being discussed and what is being expected of him/her. The use of L1 increases the learner's affective domain involvi...
