While going over some old pictures, I
noticed some very interesting ones. I realized that some things in
my life have changed; some did not.
The thing that did not change in my
life is China. It's still one of my favorite countries. Don't
get me wrong. I've never been there. In fact, I've never traveled
outside the Philippines. It's just that my paternal grandfather
always told me stories about how his ancestor is from China and that
we have Chinese blood. He also told me about his grandmother who had
bound feet (Lotus Feet). And so, I've always wanted to visit China
and see everything for myself.

The thing that did change is my
“ambition”. I don't know if this is true for all
Kindergarten (or Prep Schools), but where I came from, we have this
yearly “When I grow up I want to be....” school program. When I
was in Kinder, my line was “When I grow up I want to be a nurse”,
which did not happen because medical courses are not really my
preference. I have nothing against blood or stuff like that. It's just about my preference. When I
was in High School, I wanted to be a lawyer because I thought it was
going to be fun and productive. When I got into law school though, I
did not find it fun. I was actually disillusioned by the reality
that surrounds the profession. And so, I decided to finish my MBA
and become a teacher instead. I realized that being a teacher is
more fun and more productive. And yes, I have disillusionment, but
they are not as bad as my disillusionment when I was in law school.
