HOW TO FIND THE PERFECT PARTNER

Yes, the title is deceptive. There is no such thing as a perfect partner. (Romans 3:23: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God). But one thing I can assure is that you will the person who is perfect enough for you.

First Step: Guard your heart. Proverbs 4:23 says “Guard your heart with all vigilance,
for from it are the sources of life.” Do not date, court, or be with anyone just because there is social pressure. “What? You're already 18 and you don't have a girlfriend yet?” Do not be in a relationship just to “try it out”. A relationship is not a kitchen appliance that you can just exchange for something better if the first one you tried is not working well for you. A relationship involves your heart, your mind, and your soul. Being in a wrong, ungodly relationship will break your heart (if it is not broken already), and a broken heart means a broken life. So, guard your heart.

Second Step: Draw close to God (James 4:8). Nurture your relationship with Him. Read your Bible and pray everyday (as the song goes). Love God with all your heart, soul, and mind (Mark 12:30). If Jesus is seen in your life, you will become a “pleasing aroma” to God and to those around you (II Corinthians 2:15). You will “attract” the right kind of people. Surely, you will also be around people who love God, and who nurture their relationship with Him. Just imagine that you are a flower with a “pleasing aroma”. The bees and butterflies will surely be attracted to you. These “bees and butterflies” represent the people who are followers of God. From these “bees and butterflies”, God has chosen or “reserved” the right partner for you.

Let's put it the other way around. Without salvation and without a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, you are unclean and your deeds are like filthy rags or filthy garment (Isaiah 64:6). To put it simply, you are like garbage: stinky and filthy. And what kind of creatures are attracted to garbage? Flies and cockroaches. These “flies and cockroaches” represent the “wrong” kind of people. Without Christ, you can never ever find Mr. or Miss Right. Instead, the “wrong” kind of people will be “attracted” to you, and these “wrong” kind of people will break your heart, and eventually, your life.

To sum this step: To find “Mr. or Miss Right”, you have to be “Mr. or Miss Right with God”. “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” (Matthew 6:33)

Yes, there are only two steps to finding the perfect partner. I am not a Bible Scholar. I am only writing based on what I read and study from the Bible, and based on my own experiences.
