My last blog was about the American TV series that my family and I followed when I was still young. There was MacGyver, The A-Team, and Knight Rider. As I grow older, of course, the TV series shown on TV changed. I was rather sad when MacGyver ended, but thankfully, other TV series took its place.

One of my favorite TV series was DARK JUSTICE (1991-1993). I bet most of you even haven't heard of this one. This TV series is about a judge who becomes a vigilante by night because he lost faith in the justice system. His wife and daughter were murdered by a car bomb that was supposed to be for him, and the culprit evaded imprisonment due to a technicality. I think this is the TV series that inspired me to become a lawyer "someday" (not in this lifetime, I hope). It's tagline was "Justice may be blind but it can see in the dark." That might sound cheesy now but back in the early 90s, it really sounds cool. I can still remember how Judge Nicholas Marshall looks different when is in court and when he plays the vigilante. His hair is really neat and well-combed when he appears in court. He also wears eyeglasses. But at night, when he becomes the vigilante, he looks rugged and tough, and he rides a motorcycle. Another TV series that my family followed was BAYWATCH (1989-1999). I cannot really say that I loved Baywatch but it was so popular back then that we really had to watch it. Of course, the ever popular (at that time) David Hasselhoff starred in Baywatch. I also remember David Charvet, Billy Warlock, Pamela Anderson, and Erika Eleniak. The truth is I forgot most of the stories in Baywatch. The only aspects I remember are the red swimsuits/swimming trunks, the red-orange lifesavers, and drowning people. I can also remember some sort of love angle in the TV series but I can't even remember who is in-love with whom. To know more about Baywatch, visit www.baywatch.com.

Other TV series that I follow are NYPD Blue (1993-2005) and L.A. Law (1986-1994). I was the only one who watched these shows but my father would watch with me every once in a while. NYPD Blue is, obviously, a police drama revolving around the lives of the police men in the 15th Precinct of Manhattan. From what I've read, there is no 15th Precinct, and what was shown in the TV series is purely fictional. Sad to say, I only followed a few seasons of this series. David Caruso was one of the cast members of this TV series, and I think Caruso is one of the reasons why I also watch CSI:Miami. I also like the character of Jimmy Smits (he played Bobby Simone). L.A. Law is a legal drama that combines a serious story line with humor. Again, one of the actors was Jimmy Smits. I think he looks good in police and legal dramas. Anyway, L.A. Law is not purely serious. The TV series had humor and sarcasm. I believe that this TV series did not become so popular here in the Philippines because the ideologies and even the humor presented were purely American and the Filipino audience found it difficult to relate with such. The last two TV series I mentioned were not so popular but they make more sense than what are being shown in TV nowadays, like those so-called "reality series" that are not so real.
